Brahmleen Shri 108 Sant Baba Pipal Dass Ji Maharaj

The first spiritual Master of Dera Shri 108 Sant Sarwan Dass Sachkhand Bal was Shri 108 Sant Baba Pipal Dass Ji, who hailed from village Gill Patti, District Bathinda (Punjab). His original name was Shri Harnam Dass Ji. His parents were of a religious nature. He was married to Bibi Shobhawanti Ji. He and his wife had two sons named Shri Sewa Dass Ji and Shri Sarwan Dass Ji. After the sad demise of Bibi Shobhawanti Ji, Baba Pipal Dass Ji left village Gill Patti along with his son Sarwan Dass Ji. After traveling through various villages Baba Pipal Dass Ji reached village Sarmastpur near Jalandhar. After a short stay in this village he moved to the village of Ballan near Jalandhar. The people of Ballan showed utmost regard to Baba Ji. Therefore, he decided to stay there along with his son Sarwan Dass Ji at a place where the original Dera is situated at present. There was a dry Pipal tree near this place of worship. Baba Pipal Dass Ji started watering this Pipal tree which ultimately became green in due course of time. People of the village, having seen this miracle, started calling Baba Ji as Sant Pipal Dass Ji.

He was a scholar of Punjabi and well-wersed in the Bani of Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Slowly the people from nearby villages started coming to Baba Ji for spiritual guidance. Thus Sant Baba Pipal Dass Ji established the Dera in the village where the followers of Guru Ravidass Ji started paying their obeisance. Throughout his life Sant Baba Pipal Dass Ji blessed his disciples with “Naamdaan” and fulfilled their wishes.

Sant Baba Pipal Dass Ji left for his heavenly abode in 1928 on 13th shradh (lunar month). The present Gaddi-Nashin of the Dera, Sant Niranjan Dass Ji was keen to build a suitable memorial at village Gill Patti. In this village there was a piece of land which belonged to his family. On this land there was a historic “Ber” tree planted by Baba Pipal Dass Ji. At this site a memorial was established by Dera Sant Sarwan Dass Ji on the 5th of July, 2008. A “murti” (marble sculpture) was installed by Shri 108 Sant Niranjan Dass Ji.

Brahmleen Shri 108 Sant Sarwan Dass Ji Maharaj

Sant Sarwan Dass Ji was second Gaddi-Nashin of Dera Sachkhand Ballan. He was born on 15th February, 1895 in village Gill Patti, District Bathinda to father Baba Pipal Dass Ji and mother Bibi Shobhawanti Ji. At a very small age he moved alongwith his father from village Gill Patti to village Bal in district Jalandhar where the present Dera Sachkhand Bal is situated. The villagers of Bal gave much love and regards to him. Sant Sarwan Dass Ji got his earlier education from his father Baba Pipal Dass Ji. He obtained knowledge of Sanskrit and Ayurvedic system of medicine from Sant Karta Nand Ji of Kishangarh.

Sant Sarwan Dass Ji always remained with Baba Pipal Dass Ji during his religious sojourn to various villages. He took to meditation of God at a very early age. He was bestowed with “Naamdaan” from Sant Harnaam Dass Ji. After Baba Pipal Dass Ji left for his heavenly abode in the year 1928, he started initiating the disciples of the Dera onto the spiritual path. He healed thousands of his followers through his spiritual power and free Ayurvedic medicines.

He envisaged a great awakening and empowerment of human beings through education. Therefore, he laid great stress on the education of children. He firmly believed that those parents who do not care for the education of their children are their greatest enemy. He translated this idea in his own life by collecting children from adjoining villages in his “Kutia” and teaching them, providing them with all facilities and incentives. Those whom he taught during his life time fondly remember and revere him and are now helping generously in establishing educational and health institutions devoted to his memory.

During Sant Sarwan Dass Ji’s visit to Delhi in the year 1948 at the request of Giani Bishna Ram, S. Faqir Singh, S. Swaran Singh, S. Niranjan Singh Hothi Bal, S. Puran Singh, S Bhagat Singh, Shri Nama Ram Leel, Sant Sarwan Dass Ji used to deliver religious sermons at the residence of devotees. During his stay at Delhi, Sant Sarwan Dass Ji along with Giani Bishna Ram, went to meet Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. Dr. sahib showed great respect to Sant Sarwan Dass Ji and was very much impressed by Sant Sarwan Dass Ji’s personality and views.

In 1952 Dr. Ambedkar visited Punjab. Sant Sarwan Dass Ji could not meet him personally but wrote a very moving letter to him. To Quote :

“Dr. Sahib, you are a great son of community. March ahead for welfare of community and success will be yours and people will feel proud of you”.

Sant Sarwan Dass Ji preached the philosophy and teachings of Guru Ravidass Ji among the socially backward and downtrodden people throughout his life. He remained very distressed by the fact that there was no memorial to Guru Ravidass Ji in the city of Varanasi, though many Kings and Queens were his disciples. Sant Sarwan Dass Ji, being a great spiritual, visionary and revolutionary saint, undertook the task of perpetuating the memory of Guru Ji at Varanasi and giving a befitting memorial in his name. He assigned the task of tracing the birth place of Guru Ji in the city of Varanasi to a select group of people. The group went to Varanasi and surveyed the area near the Banaras Hindu University. The “Imlee” tree and other indicators confirmed a location in village Seer Goverdhanpur, in the outskirts of Varanasi near Banaras Hindu University, as the birthplace of Guru Ravidass Ji. A plot of land was purchased and no time was lost to start the construction of an impressive temple. Sant Sarwan Dass Ji deputed his first disciple Sant Hari Dass Ji along with a large number of devotees of Dera Bal to start the construction of the Mandir. Sant Hari Dass Ji laid the foundation stone of the Mandir on Monday the 14th June, 1965 on Ashad Sankranti. As soon as the foundation stone was laid no time was lost in starting the construction of the Mandir in full swing. Sant Sarwan Dass Ji assigned the duty of construction work to his second disciple Sant Garib Dass Ji, who along with large “Jathas” (groups of people) of Dera “Sewadars” worked in the most difficult and unfavorable conditions to complete the construction of the first phase of the Mandir in the year 1970. In this endeavor help came from the public at large from within as well as from outside the country. The Guru Ji’s devotees residing in U.K. and other foreign countries were also keen to see the project completed and they contributed according to their respective capacities.

In December 1970 a huge conference was held at Dera Sachkhand Bal in which prominent leaders such as Shri Mangoo Ram Mugowalia, Shri Dilip Singh, Shri Kulwant Singh from Himachal Pradesh, Captain Bhagu Ram Ji and a very large number of people from other states of India such as Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, J & K and Haryana participated. Many resolutions concerning the community were passed. Through one of the resolutions passed in this conference all the delegates expressed gratitude to Sant Sarwan Dass Ji for building a Mandir at the birthplace of Shri Guru Ravidass Ji and at the same time nominated him to be the Chairman of the committee formed for continuing the construction as well as for managing the affairs of the Mandir.

All the followers of Guru Ravidass Ji throughout the world will remain indebted to Sant Sarwan Dass Ji for giving them this place of pilgrimage, where people gather in very large numbers to pay their obeisance throughout the year as well as on the Jayanti (birthday) celebrations of Guru Ji.

Sant Sarwan Dass Ji left for his heavenly abode on 11th June, 1972 leaving behind a rich legacy. During his life time itself Dera Sachkhand Bal had acquired a prominent status among the large number of followers of Guru Ravidass Ji from within India as well as abroad. These followers draw their inspiration and seek spiritual guidance from the Dera. Recognising the services being rendered by the Dera, the public is contributing generously for the construction and running of hospitals and schools devoted to the memory of Sant Sarwan Dass Ji.

Brahmleen Shri 108 Sant Hari Dass Ji Maharaj

Shri 108 Sant Hari Dass Ji Maharaj was the third Gaddi-Nashin (spiritual leader) of Dera Sachkhand, Ballan. Sant Hari Dass Ji was born in 1895 at village Garha in Jalandhar District. His father was Shri Hukum Chand Ji and his mother was Shrimati Taabi Ji. He used to take interest in religious matters since his childhood.

Sant Hari Dass Ji had heard about Baba Pipal Dass Ji from the followers of Baba Ji. He showed keen interest to meet Baba Ji. After meeting Baba Ji, Sant Hari Dass Ji requested Baba Ji to give him the gift of “Naamdaan”. Baba Pipal Dass Ji Maharaj accepted his request and initiated him. After receiving “Naamdaan”, Sant Hari Dass Ji devoted his entire life to serving Baba Ji & later his son Sant Sarwan Dass Ji.

Sant Sarwan Dass Ji always kept Sant Hari Dass Ji with him, showed great affection for him and deputed him for important religious duties. He was specially assigned the task of laying the foundation stone of Shri Guru Ravidass Janam Asthan Mandir at Seer Goverdhanpur, Varanasi. This historic task was done by him on 14th June, 1965 along with the followers of Dera Sachkhand Bal.

After Sant Sarwan Dass Ji left for his heavenly abode on 11th June, 1972, Sant Hari Dass Ji was installed as Gaddi-Nashin (spiritual leader) of Dera Sachkhand, Bal.

Sant Hari Dass Ji started the construction of the temple at Dera Bal on 10th Aug, 1972 in the memory of Sant Sarwan Dass Ji Maharaj. Within one year the construction of the temple was completed and it was inaugurated on 11th June, 1973 on the first Barsi Samagam (anniversary celebrations) of Sant Sarwan Dass Ji. The murti (marble sculpture) of Sant Sarwan Dass Ji Maharaj was installed in the temple. This temple is famously known as “Dera Sachkhand Bal”.

He also constructed a hall for the devotees. This hall is known as the “Sant Hari Dass Satsang Hall”.

He was against child marriage. He bestowed “Naamdaan” on thousands of disciples.

Sant Hari Dass Ji left for his heavenly abode on 6th Feb, 1982. Every year on 7th of February, Hari Manav Ekta Sant Sammelan is celebrated in the memory of Sant Hari Dass Ji, at Sant Sarwan Dass Charitable Hospital, Kathar, District Jalanadhar.

Brahmleen Shri 108 Sant Garib Dass Ji Maharaj

Sant Garib Dass Ji was born in the year 1925 in a village called Jalbhe which is in Jalandhar District. His father was Shri Nanak Chand and mother Shrimati Har Kaur Ji. When he was only six months old his father expired. After this tragic incident his mother took care of the little child. He was the youngest of five brothers.

He used to visit Dera Sachkhand Ballan occasionally. The teaching and ideology of Sant Sarwan Dass Ji impressed him greatly. So he started coming to the Dera more often. Within a short period he won the heart of Sant Sarwan Dass Ji.

Shri Kartar Chand took the 13 year old Garib Dass Ji to Ludhiana for helping him in the business of silk weaving. There he received a letter from Sant Sarwan Dass Ji asking him to come to the Dera immediately for some urgent work. Without wasting any time he reached the Dera. There he was instructed to remain in the Dera from that point onwards. He humbly followed the instructions of Sant Sarwan Dass Ji.

One day Sant Sarwan Dass Ji told him, “Garib Dass, detach yourself from the materialistic world and serve the Almighty God.” “Har ke naam bin jhuthe sakal pasare”. Garib Dass Ji very obediently prostrated at the feet of Sant Sarwan Dass Ji and vowed to devote his whole life to the service of Almighty God and Humanity. Apart from delving into the fathoms of Gurbani, he learned to prepare Ayurvedic medicines and treated many patients who came to the Dera with various ailments. The young boy had now grown in wisdom and stature under the patronage of Sant Sarwan Dass Ji and in the company of Sant Hari Dass Ji. Therefore Swami Sarwan Dass Ji used to entrust him with many jobs of responsibility. Whereas Sant Sarwan Dass Ji had deputed Sant Hari Dass Ji to lay the foundation stone of the Janam Asthan Mandir at Varanasi, the task of actual construction of the Mandir was entrusted to Sant Garib Dass Ji. He used to lead a team of Sewadars to Varanasi for this purpose. Construction of the temple was completed by him in the most difficult conditions and challenging circumstances.

When Sant Garib Dass Ji became the Gaddi-Nashin (spiritual leader) of Dera Sachkhand Bal on 7th February, 1982 he wanted to construct a hospital in the memory of his Guru, for giving medical aid to the poor people. A milestone in the history of the Dera Sachkhand Bal was created on 22nd October, 1982 when Sant Garib Dass Ji laid the foundation stone for Sant Sarwan Dass Charitable Hospital at village Dheypur-Koopur, Adda Kathar. This hospital made a humble beginning with it’s inauguration on 1st January, 1984. Today it is a 150 bed hospital providing quality service in eight specialties at very nominal rates to the people who cannot afford costly medical aid. For those people who cannot meet even the nominal rates, the expenditure is met by Dera Sachkhand Bal. Additionally all expenditure of capital nature such as machinery or building extensions is met by the Dera.

Sant Garib Dass Ji also realised the importance of having a newspaper, which would serve the cause of the community. So he started a weekly named ‘Begumpura Shaher’, thus giving a voice to the poor people.

During his lifetime the Langer Hall and major portion of Yatri Niwas at the Dera were built.

He laid the foundation stone of Sant Sarwan Dass teaching block in the Industrial Training Institute at Phagwara and got a spacious hall built there.

During his lifetime, he wanted to see the Janam Asthan Mandir at Varanasi in full glory. He got “Swarn Kalash” installed at the Mandir in the presence of Babu Kanshi Ram Ji. He paid a historic visit to the Mandir along with a number of Dera followers from 16th June to 23rd June 1994 as if he had a premonition that he will be leaving this world very soon. One month after returning from Varanasi, he left for his heavenly abode on 23rd July, 1994.

Brahmleen Shri 108 Sant Rama Nand Ji Maharaj

Some unique personalities take birth in this wonderful world who become immortal through their great deeds in service of society. However true saints are beacon of enlightenment for entire humanity. Divisions based on country borders, colour, caste and creed are meaningless for them. Saints are like dense shade of banyan providing shelter and solace through cool westerly breeze against extreme heat generated by misdeeds of human beings.

Sant Rama Nand Ji’s father Shri Mehnga Ram Ji and other ancestors, who were devotees of Dera Sachkhand Ballan, migrated from village Ballan during 1910-15 to settle down at village Alawalpur, district Jalandhar. Nature finds unique ways to create new historic events. Something similar happened in the lives of this family. Leading a normal married life, Shri Mehnga Ram Ji and Bibi Jeet Kaur Ji never thought that they would be blessed with a son who would unite the entire depressed community like beads of a rossary and play a marvelous role in bringing all round glory to a place of worship Dera Sachkhand Ballan known to the whole world which future generations shall always be really proud of. Because of untiring efforts of Sat Guru Swami Niranjan Dass Ji and Sant Rama Nand Ji, now Dera Sachkhand Ballan is known as Mecca for all humanity and especially for dalits. It has always been the motto of present spiritual leaders to understand and appreciated the great legacy of past spiritual leaders and move forwards on the foot prints left by them.

Shri 108 Sant Rama Nand Ji was born on February 2, 1952 in the house of blessed parents Shri Mehnga Ram Ji and Shrimati Jeet Kaur Ji. He was of saintly nature from the very birth. His charming looks created a captivating spell on the people of the locality. He completed his graduation from Doaba College, Jalandhar. He invariably used to be in deep thoughts as a student. He liked company of saints from his childhood which had to lead him to divine enlightenment because of his devotion. Some members of the family started strong opposition demanding that Rama Nand should be kept away from the company of saints. There were frequent religious discourse in the house. Sant Rama Nand Ji used to pray to God every moment in meditation even while carrying out domestic work. Ultimately, Rama Nand Ji was at service of the sacred feet of Shri 108 Sant Hari Dass Ji, Dera Sachkhand, Ballan. He was blessed with ‘Naamdaan’ by Shri 108 Sant Hari Dass Ji. Sant Rama Nand Ji continued meditation of God while staying in the beautiful temple built in memory of Baba Pipal Dass Ji at village Ballan from 1973 onwards. Sant Rama Nand Ji remained in service of the devotees and conducted religious discourses singing devotional hymns daily during the life times of Brahamlin Shri 108 Sant Hari Dass Ji and Shri 108 Sant Garib Dass Ji.

It is worth elaboration here that Sant Rama Nand Ji received ‘Naamdaan’ from Shri 108 Sant Hari Dass Ji and he was initiated as a saint by Shri 108 Sant Garib Dass Ji. He also had the good fortune of travelling with the latter to several countries for preaching and spread of teaching of Shri Guru Ravidass Ji. Latter he visited several countries under the directions of present spiritual head Shri 108 Sant Niranjan Dass Ji and helped construction of many temples and linking devotees in foreign countries with the preaching of Shri Guru Ravidass Ji. He endeared himself amongst all foreign devotees. Devotees were left spell bound after listening to the sweet melodies of his spiritual discourses.

He was an able administrator who managed the affairs of Dera in an elegant manner. While preaching and spreading the teachings of Shri Guru Ravidass Ji through congregation of saints throughout the world, he always played leading role in carrying out the various tasks in the service of humanity under many charitable projects run by Dera Sachkhand Ballan. He provided praise-worthy services as Editor of ‘Begampura Shaher’ published by Dera Sachkhand Ballan for which he was honored by Dalit Literary Academy with a prestigious award. It was for the first time when he created history delivering his speech about Shri Guru Ravidass Ji at the House of Commons in United Kingdom. He was a great scholar of Gurbani and expert in explaining complicated details of same through extremely simple examples. Whenever he rendered hymns accompanied by spiritual music, all devotees present at the site remained spell bound.

Not only he established Shri Guru Ravidass Sangeet Academy at Dera Sachkhand Ballan but his visionary instincts could identified many talented missionary singers, poets and writers who were honored with gold medals. Jalandhar Doordarshan telecasts programmes named “Amritbani Shri Guru Ravidass Ji” and “Begampura Shahar Ka Nao” rendered in his captivating voice.

Sant Rama Nand Ji made very special contribution to the construction of buildings of various institutions being run by Dera Sachkhand Ballan. When the new buildings of following establishments were under construction, Sant Rama Nand Ji used to take a leading role as a skilled worker and despite request from devotees for taking rest, he lead by example working for hours giving inspiration to one and all :

  • Shri Guru Ravidass Janam Asthan Mandir, Seer Goverdhanpur, Varanasi.
  • Sant Sarwan Dass Charitable Hospital, Adda Kathar.
  • Shri Guru Ravidass Satsang Bhawan, Ballan.
  • Shri Guru Ravidass Mandir Hadiabad, Phagwara.
  • Sant Sarwan Dasss Model High School Hadiabad, Phagwara.

  • Shri Guru Ravidass Mandir, Sirgarh, Haryana.
  • Karambhumi of Baba Pipal Dass Ji and birth place of Sant Sarwan Dass Ji, Gill Patti, Bathinda.
  • Shri Guru Ravidass Mandir, Katraj, Pune.

Sant Rama Nand Ji was an untiring and determined warrior who worked day and night to accomplish the missionary tasks without ever feeling tired or upset. He often used to say “Whatever time one can devote in service of Maharaj Ji, only that is useful, how does one know whether any opportunity will be available again or not”.

While Shri 108 Sant Nirinjan Dass Ji, present spiritual head, Dera Sachkhand Ballan and minister of Guru-Ghar exponent of Gurbani kirtan, devotee of God, great ‘Vaidya’, epicenter of Shri Guru Ravidass Mission and precious diamond of Sant samaj Shri 108 Sant Rama Nand Ji were on a mission to preach and spread the teaching of Shri Guru Ravidass Ji, enemies of humanity attacked and seriously injured them inside Shri Guru Ravidass Mandir in Vienna, Austria. Even after being hit by bullets, Sant Rama Nand Ji continued to chant name of Jagatguru Ravidass Ji echoing that he still wanted to do a lot for preaching and spread of his mission. But destiny willed otherwise and he left this short lived world for his heavenly abode early morning on 25th May, 2009

Sant Rama Nand Ji embraced martyrdom while relentlessly spreading the preaching of Jagatguru Ravidass Ji Maharaj “Satsangat Mil Rahiye Madho Jaise Madhup Makhira” (O God! bless us to remain united in prayers like honey bees) advising till his departure for his heavenly abode, the followers of Shri Guru Ravidass Ji to stay always united at the world level.

Sant Rama Nand Ji is no more physically with us because of most unfortunate incidence at Vienna, Austria, but his noble thoughts shall always be with us to lead us on the right path.

Sant Niranjan Dass Ji was born on 5th January, 1942 at village Ramdass Pur near Allawalpur in District Jalandhar to father Shri Sadhu Ram Ji and mother Shrimati Rukmani Ji. Seeing the speed at which he used to perform his tasks, Sant Sarwan Dass Ji named him “Hawaigar” (“speedy one”). • I read this several times and came to the coulcnsion you should have been a teacher to second graders. What a delightful experience. It is so interesting to see things through the eyes of children who have not yet been exposed to the real world. I would love to volunter to read at a school but I am unable to make a commitment at this time.

It sort of feels too complex and very extensive for me. I am taking a look ahead to your subsequent post, I will attempt to get the dangle of it!

in punjab and most parts of india the administration is corrupt, the politicians are corrupt, the police are corrupt, hospitals and clinics are corrupt, people in general are corrupt so

WHY SHOULD WE BELIEVE SUCHKAND BALLAN AND THESE OTHER DERAS ARE AN EXCEPTION??????????????

Punjab is going to get alot worse before it gets any better as there is still a very big social problem there along with the rise in drugs (almost 70% of young men are addicts), alcoholism (government gets 10% of its tax from booze alone) , migration of punjabies to the promised land and last but not least rape.

It seems as corruption is still present in this dera. I have heard from a reputable source that the recent eviction of Sant Surinder Dass to Pune was because he was frauding the public’s money so he bought two service stations and numerous other property for his immediate friends and relatives. He even physically beat Sant Niranjan Dass and tried to strangle him with his own turbon before being separated by house security.

‘To act dishonestly in return for money or personal gain’

Ramanand and his dera dishonoured the GGSJ for the purpose of making money.

The bowing of the head to another entity before the GGSJ I would say is dishonouring it and for what purpose – for making money

In my opinion this is classed as corruption. But it doesn’t stop there because this dera are continuing this dishonouring with the Amritbani.

If you read Guru Ravidas’s teachings you will know that bowing of the head to another person, idol worship was forbidden to be a true Ravidassia. This was later implemented in Sikhism and the GGSJ as Guru Ravidass was older than Guru Nanak who continued many of his teachings. Afterall Guru Ravidass and Guru Nanak were from the same sect – satnami sect.

True teaching of Guru Ravidass, Nanak and Kabir

    1. Never covet anything, either of body or wealth: take not of another. God is the giver of all things, as your trust is in Him so shall you receive.

    2. When asked what you are, declare thyself a Sadh, speak not of caste, nor engage in controversy, hold your faith, put not your hope in men.

    3. Never eat nor drink intoxicating substances, nor chew pan, nor smell perfume, nor smoke tobacoo, nor chew nor smell opium, hold not up your hands, bow not your head in the presence of idols or of men.

How many of these do do actually follow?

Cult characteristics – Most of these match with Ballan dera followers I have met

    1. The group is focused on a living leader to whom members seem to display excessively
    zealous, unquestioning commitment.

    2. The group is preoccupied with bringing in new members.

    3. The group is preoccupied with making money.

    4. Questioning, doubt, and dissent are discouraged or even punished.

    5. Mind-numbing techniques (such as meditation, chanting, speaking in tongues, denunciation sessions, debilitating work routines) are used to suppress doubts about the group and its leader(s).

    6. The leadership dictates sometimes in great detail how members should think, act, and feel (for example: members must get permission from leaders to date, change jobs, get married; leaders may prescribe what types of clothes to wear, where to live, how to discipline children, and so forth).

    7. The group is elitist, claiming a special, exalted status for itself, its leader(s), and members (for example: the leader is considered the Messiah or an avatar; the group and/or the leader has a special mission to save humanity).

    8. The group has a polarized us-versus-them mentality, which causes conflict with the wider society.

    9. The group’s leader is not accountable to any authorities (as are, for example, military commanders and ministers, priests, monks, and rabbis of mainstream denominations).

    10. The group teaches or implies that its supposedly exalted ends justify means that members would have considered unethical before joining the group (for example: collecting money for bogus charities).

    11. The leadership induces guilt feelings in members in order to control them.

    12. Members’ subservience to the group causes them to cut ties with family and friends, and to give up personal goals and activities that were of interest before joining the group.

    13. Members are expected to devote inordinate amounts of time to the group.

    14. Members are encouraged or required to live and/or socialize only with other group members.

    Money, Money, Money

When will our Ravidassias learn that this bogus dera has already done a deal with the Akali (Sikh) party for votes in return for Z security for their dera. The dera have cheating the Ravidassia community into thinking they are anti-Sikh but in actual fact they support them as they follow sikhi (Beards, Turbans hint hint) and will be getting votes for them. Ravidassias please wake up as the only winners will be the Akali party and the dera through votes and money.
Have you not noticed that now they suddenly support the Guru Granth Shahib again after years of preaching the AmritBani? Don’t be a stooge of this bogus dera.

The Birmingham Guru Ravidass Temple committee was elected few weeks ago. They were staunch supporters of Dera Ballan and Amritbani and indeed privately said they wanted to install the Amritbani at the temple if elected. Now they have decided not to, realising that there is no bigger ‘Amritbani’ than the Guru Granth Sahib and woken up to the fact that it would have split the community and done irrepairable damage. Maybe it has got partly something to do with what the above contributor has said about the ‘deal’ with Akali Dal. Well well there you have it, the Dera Ballan are playing politics again. We don’t need primitive Dera Ballan politics in England. We are educated and intellectual enough to understand that. The prime motive of Dera Ballan politics has been to take over Ravidass Temples for the money they generate to take to Dera Ballan. Most of their followers are too blind to see that. Dera Ballan politics has failed. In England Ravidassia community belongs in Sikhism. Outside it we are nothing but a hindu sect.

Yes supporters of dera Ballan did win but only by cheating. They merged with a rival team (supporters of Sant Surinder Dass Bawa) and promised them equal positions in the final committee ( a legal letter was signed by members of both teams) if they won but instead decided to stick with their own members. They also threatened Bawa’s supporters into joining them and got Dr Ambedkhar (Budhist) followers to vote for them.
It is sad that there is a voting process for this Ravidassia Sabha and there being 3-4 candidate teams too. Must take a leave out of the Sikh gurdwaras where every member has to be strictly Amra Dari and are bought in through recommendation by senior members.
I must also say that the wider Ravidassia community in the Birmingham and Sandwell is not pro-dera Ballan as there was over 2000 people voted and the dera supporters won by approx. 50-60 votes as they had 750 votes which was the majority but if the remaining 2 teams had also merged they would surely have lost.

Indeed Dera Ballan candidates played dirty politics. For them to renegade on an agreement reached with the Bawa Group is not a very honourable thing to do. The committee positions should be allocated fairly and reflect the level of support tendered by the Bawa Group. What shocks me is the number of groups standing for election. They have little or no qualification, experience or knowledge in adminstration and yet were clammering to get positions on the committee. If I was interviewing them for the individual committee position none of them would be appointed. The persons best suited usually do not participate because of the dirt and mud slinging that goes on in the politics of the temple and that is why they stay away. Poor candidates will provide poor leadership and poor direction for the community. They only serve their own selfish interests and do not have or reflect the interests of the community at heart. And yet that is what the community is electing them for. The temple should have proper systems to accommodate complaints and develop proper structures for improving the processes so that only the best people and selfless get the positions on the committee.

My dear friend we live in a society were knowledge is not acknowledged and the numbers game is the biggest factor – meaning how large is your family and friend base which ultimately equals more votes. We live in a world where the greater numbers you possess the less harm can come to you. And yes there are better people in our community who are perhaps better suited but are concerned by the amount of extra time you have to contribute away from your family and friends especially when it is voluntarily and the threat of violence that has occurred in recent times. What has happened in recent years is the friends and family of the appointed committee will participate in the congregation while the opposing groups go into exile for three years.

Ultimately the Ravidassia mission must go back to the basics:-

As you can see dera followers don’t follow many of the main teachings as they put their faith and hope in god men.
I believe the teaching above is the true blessing not bowing your head to a pakandi and continuing with your negative ways regardless.

I agree. I recommend everybody, especially those who follow godmen, to read a book by Dr Abraham Kovoor called ‘Begone Godmen!’ Encounters with spiritual Frauds. It will open ones eyes and change one’s view of life forever. It is one of the most powerful books I have read. India is awashed with spiritual frauds and many including Sai Baba, Asaram along with many others have been exposed and the ignorant public still continues to follow them as gods on earth. The root cause is clearly Brahminism. This peaches that all hindu followers need to have their own living guru to teach them about God. This leaves the door open to spitual fraud to enter to exploit the vulnerable spritually hungry followers. Sikhism closed the doors to godmen after the Adi granth was declared the only Guru to follow after Guru Govinds death. Sikhs are less inclined to follow godmen.

When will people learn that following the teachings of the Gurus is the blessing and will bring blessing. Many people from the Ravidassia community are not changing their ways to the teachings instead they carry on taking intoxication, lying, cheating and bowing theirs heads before pakandi god men to get their blessing.

The flowing two reasons are why the Ravidassia community is failing:-

    1. First and foremost the widespread consumption of alcohol and the efforts made for its justification go directly against Guru Ravidass’s teachings. Ballan dera does not condemn the use of alcohol as it would end in many disciples leaving resulting in a significant fall in fund raising.

    2. Pakandi Godmen are to blame as they have clearly divided the community and not united it. Following godmen is also against the teachings of Guru Ravidass. Many Pakandis have been exposed in recent years such as Baba Asram and Baba Rampal as frauds mainly through the emergence of social media, therefore, is this the reason why Ballan dera have a strict policy against cameras?

It amazes me that some people want to be know as Ravidassia but don’t want to follow the integral teachings of their guru. imho the best way to truly embrace any religion is to follow and spread the teachings.

    Beware pakandis

    Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh
Took up reins of Dera Sacha Sauda, based in Sirsa (Haryana), in 1990. Though his dera claims to spearhead social work such as blood donation, fight against drugs and alcoholism, he is facing charges of rape, murder, forced castration and blasphemy. The dera’s main area of influence is Malwa (Punjab) and neighbouring Haryana.

    Rampal
An engineer-turned-godman, Rampal presents himself as the incarnation of mystic poet Kabir. He had established his Satlok Ashram first at Rohtak. He ran into trouble for derogatory remarks against Arya Samaj founder Swami Dayanand Saraswati. In 2006, a clash between his followers and Arya Samajis started Rampal’s brush with the judiciary and the law.

    Ashutosh Maharaj
Founder-head of Divya Jyoti Jagriti Sansthan, Ashutosh Maharaj hails from Bihar. His dera is based in Nurmahal (Jalandhar) and has a following in the Doaba region. Reported dead in January this year, but the dera authorities refused to cremate him, saying that the guru is in samadhi (meditation). His body has been in a deep freezer for the past 10 months.

    Piara Singh Bhaniarawale
Founder of Ropar-based Baba Bhaniarawale sect, he penned the book Bhavsagar Granth, describing his miracles. His followers are accused of burning birs of the Sikh holy book, Guru Granth Sahib. He had survived an assassination bid while appearing for a court hearing in Ambala in 2003. Was also attacked on the dera premises.

    Baljit Singh Daduwal
Behind the Sant Samaj leader’s rise is also the dera-Sikh clergy conflict. Daduwal’s remarks against Gurmeet Ram Rahim led to a row between radical Sikhs and Dera Sacha Sauda followers. Punjab Police opened an old case against Daduwal after he supported the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee. Released after Haryana elections.

    Sant Niranjan Das
Founded by devotees of Guru Ravidass, Dera Sachkhand Ballan, based in Jalandhar district, has a considerable following in the Doaba region. It is headed by Sant Niranjan Das, who was attacked in Vienna (Austria) in 2009. The dera’s deputy head, Guru Ramanand, was killed in the attack, which had triggered violence in Jalandhar and adjoining districts.

  29. Shiv Ravidasia

    SHAIVISM-BUDDHISM-SIKHISM-RAVIDASIA.
All bahujan were Shaiv…followers of shiv-shakti…Shiva is non vedic deity. He is adiyogi means first buddh purush. He alwyas opposed ved, yadnya n varna system. He has given 112 meditation techniques. All meditation belongs to him. Ardhanarishwar shows the equality betwn men n women. Man n woman is incomplete without each other. In shaivism Shivlinga is worshiped, which is symbol of creation (reproduction). But vedic (brahmin, kshatriya, vaishya) hijack Shiva n make him vedic deity.
Now shaiv are called as hindu. Actuly vedic are not hindu.they are different. . They dont worship idol. They only worship fire n yadna. In vedas idol worshiping is not permited.
Even though vedic become priest only for Dakshina n to take command on shaiv. They dont call themselvs hindu/shaiv. But called vedic sanatani. So from now keep in mind that we are shaiv (now called as hindu) n vedics are diff.
In India charmkar of diff states are of diff culture n follows diff sect n faith. Ex. Shaivism, buddhism, sikhism, ravidasia. In southern states charmkar (called as dhor kakkayya, haralayya, machigar etc) follows Shaivism. Our charmkar guru Haralayya n guru Kakkayya were from this sect. They were followers of guru Basaveshwar. In north India like punjab n Haryana, the charmkar (called as chamar, jatav, ravidasia) are from Sikh sect. Now they have formed their own religion called Ravidasia,on teaching of charmkar guru Ravidas. On this there is impact of sikhism. In UP Bihar charmkar (called as chamar, jatav, mochi etc) follows teachings of guru Ravidas n Buddhism. Maharashtra is the state in which charmkar (called as chambhar, dhor, harale etc) follows shaivism with that they follows guru Ravidas. We hav to be proud of that our charmkar people are in all these sects.
    Infact shaivism,buddhism,sikhism,ravidasia hav same philosophy.
I want to say that charmkar from north & south have to share their diff sects n culture n try to know history of each other. And unite the charmkar community.
    Our salutation
    Jai Gurudev

Very interesting comments on this forum regarding the Ravidasia community. A short while ago while visiting Punjab I had the pleasure of meeting some diplomatic figures mainly from the Sikh community. After a few drinks they started to tell me that almost all the main deras in punjab were under their control and were being used to ‘buy’ votes from the dalit community. And this control started in the 80s when there was a huge exodus of Sikhs to Canada and the UK. They assured me that each dera is being used to swing votes in election time so that punjab stays under Sikh rule even if they are now the minority in some cities and villages. There may be some true to this as the dalit community do eventually end up voting for the Sikh party representive. Also any dalit members who do not follow a dera get bought with cheap booze and fake promises. Deras and their babas are protected with government security and risk a backlash and eventual closure if they don’t forefill their objective. I don’t know how much of this is true but is very interesting the lengths the powers that be will go to to swing votes.

So I hear the Ballan sants are in the middle of their annual european (coincidently when temperatures have hit 50 C in Punjab) tour but will not be visiting Greece this year. Anything to do with the fact their is a major financial collapse in the country and most migrants are surviving on 40 euros a week, the same migrants who helped line these sants pockets. Why don’t the sants go to Greece and at least do a langar for all the Ravidasia families who are struggling at this very bad time. And the answer is it doesn’t make any business sense – £££££££££££££

    wake up Ravidassia community.

Shocking revelations from Shri Guru Ravidass Sabha in Handsworth, Birmingham that the Chief Cashier has been involved in a £60-70K fraud involving congregation money. Rumors has it he been made escape goat as money has just vanished and is now under police investigation. Wouldn’t be surprised if dera ballan has something to do with it.
This will hit the congregation proceeds hard as any trust will be lost and will take a very long time to return in my honest opinion and in that time the Ravidasia community could decline further in Birmingham and Sandwell.
